Today’s Tech Roundup: Projectors, Monitors & Gadgets — July 18, 2026
Here’s a quick sweep across the display and gadget world for today.
🎥 Projector Corner
The projector news cycle has been quieter on brand-new-today announcements, but a few storylines remain active from this month: Panasonic and Illumibot’s AI-personalized “IllumiBeast” projection trucks are still touring the US as part of July’s 250th-anniversary light shows, and Optoma’s ProScene commercial lineup (ZU920TNL/ZU820TNL) continues rolling out to installers. On the review-and-roundup side, sites like ProjectorCentral and Digital Projection continue tracking laser-phosphor brightness gains across commercial DLP lines, with several manufacturers pushing single-chip units past 9,000 lumens for large-venue use.
🖥️ Monitor World
Monitor releases are moving fast this summer. Philips just introduced what it’s calling the world’s first triple-mode fast IPS gaming monitors, adding another twist to the multi-refresh-rate “dual/triple mode” trend that’s spread across the gaming monitor market this year. MSI has unveiled a PRO MAX OLED model built on a new inkjet-printed (IJP) OLED panel from TCL CSOT — a manufacturing approach that’s being watched closely as a potential new competitor to Samsung and LG’s OLED panel supply. Meanwhile, mini-LED super-ultrawide and glasses-free 3D monitor entries (from Innocn and Titan Army respectively) continue to expand the higher end of the desktop display market, and Asus’s ROG lineup from Computex is still working its way through regional launches.
📱 Gadgets & Devices
The big story brewing is Google’s Pixel 11 family. Google has confirmed a “Made by Google” event and pre-order date of August 12 in New York, teasing a new “Pixel Glow” feature — a circular RGB LED on the camera bar used for notifications — alongside expected Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold models, plus new Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds hardware. Early signups before August 7 are being offered a store-credit incentive tied to launch day.
On the Apple side, early iPhone 18 leaks are circulating around pricing, release timing and battery changes, with some reports suggesting a notable price increase over the current lineup. In gaming hardware, Microsoft’s Xbox Ultimate Game Sale is live through July 30, and coverage continues around high-end gaming laptops like the Razer Blade 18. Robotics also had a moment today, with humanoid robot demonstrations (including dexterous “hands” capable of fine manipulation tasks) continuing to draw attention as a fast-moving hardware category.
