Xiaomi has officially unveiled its latest home entertainment device — the Redmi Projector 4 — in China. Positioned as an affordable yet feature-rich model, it serves as an upgrade to the previous Redmi Projector 3 and a budget-friendly alternative to the Redmi Projector 4 Pro. With significant improvements in brightness, image processing, and smart connectivity, the new model aims to deliver a superior cinematic experience at an accessible price point.
The Redmi Projector 4 maintains a Full HD (1080p) resolution with a 1,500:1 contrast ratio, but it now features a more powerful light source that offers a 38% increase in brightness compared to its predecessor. According to Xiaomi, the new LED light engine achieves up to 360 CVIA lumens of brightness. While CVIA is a Chinese domestic standard and not internationally recognized, the increase still promises a noticeable improvement in image clarity and color vibrancy, particularly in well-lit rooms.
In terms of projection capabilities, the Redmi Projector 4 can display images up to 120 inches across with a 1.2:1 throw ratio, making it suitable for a variety of room sizes. It also introduces MEMC motion smoothing technology, a feature typically found in higher-end models, which helps eliminate motion blur for smoother playback during fast-paced scenes.
A key addition to this model is the integrated ToF (Time-of-Flight) sensor, which automatically adjusts the focus and keystone correction, ensuring a sharp and properly aligned image without the need for manual fine-tuning. Users can also make further image adjustments through software-based tools, offering more control over viewing angles and image proportions.
The projector comes equipped with dual 5W speakers, delivering clear stereo sound that’s suitable for everyday use. For connectivity, it includes HDMI (ARC), USB 2.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless streaming and peripheral connections. The inclusion of HDMI ARC also allows users to connect the projector to external sound systems seamlessly.
The Redmi Projector 4 runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS Connect ecosystem, allowing users to control it via the Mi Home app or through voice commands. This integration ensures smooth interaction between other Xiaomi smart devices, enhancing the overall smart home experience.
Design-wise, the projector comes in a stylish metallic beige finish, giving it a minimalist and premium appearance. It measures 151.4 x 125.0 x 204.8 mm (approximately 6.0 x 4.9 x 8.1 inches), making it compact enough for portable or tabletop use.
In China, the Xiaomi Redmi Projector 4 is priced at CNY 1,399 (around USD $196), positioning it as one of the most affordable smart projectors in its category. While Xiaomi has yet to confirm international availability, it’s expected that the model could eventually reach other markets following the success of its previous smart projector lines.
With its combination of enhanced brightness, intelligent focusing, and smart connectivity, the Redmi Projector 4 represents another strong entry in Xiaomi’s expanding projector portfolio — designed to make home entertainment brighter, smarter, and more accessible than ever.
